KATEI is a young classically trained rock violinist who is recognised as one of Asia’s most exuberant and unconventional artists that has even Beethoven rocking in his grave.

Immigrating from Japan to Australia with his family in 1990, KATEI grew up calling Brisbane home playing the violin since the age of 5.KATEI’s passion for the violin sparked the beginning of his journey in pursuing his dreams to become an international artist. In pursuit of his dreams he completed both Bachelor of Music degree majoring in Classical Violin and Graduate Diploma majoring in Contemporary Violin at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music Griffith University Australia, he then traveled to Japan and redefined himself as a rock violinist in 2007.

KATEI’s unique style and flare set him apart from other artists and ultimately landed him an opportunity with a major record label, Victor Entertainment Japan. In November 2009, KATEI released his debut album “JOURNEY” and has since been performing all over the world including Japan and Australia,China, Korea and Taiwan, alongside many major artists.

Moving back home from Japan early 2011, KATEI held a sold out charity concert “JOURNEY HOME” at the QLD Conservatorium Theatre, donating to the restoration of Brisbane City Hall, and to the Nan Tien Institute in Wollongong NSW for their construction of the new university campus.

October 2012 KATEI held another sold out concert at the Brisbane Powerhouse celebrating his first EP ‘distance’ release in Australia.

KATEI is also a Guest Entertainer in the Cruise Ship industry performing all over the world with most of the Major Cruise Lines including Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises, Holland America Line, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises and Seabourn Cruise Line. Now travelling all over the world performing on cruise ships, KATEI stands out from the other performers with his unique Rock Violin sound and an energy packed show!

Now based in Melbourne Australia, KATEI speaks fluently in 4 different languages: English, Japanese, Chinese and Taiwanese.

A truly borderless individual with a borderless music that does not lie solely within the realms of classical music. His heavily rock influenced violin playing style, along with his composition make for a refreshingly new sound.

The heart-warming, yet aggressive sound of his violin has charmed many from numerous generations.
